Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, if you are eligible you could see your GP to get a Mental Health Care Plan which gives you a $128.40 Medicare Rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy is an individual process and so length of therapy varies from person to person. I will discuss this with you early in our work as the length of therapy can depend somewhat on your goals, treatment needs and availability.

What is the cancellation policy?

At Connections Psychology we often have client’s on a waitlist. Therefore, if you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours notice you will be charged a $180 cancellation fee. Non attendance will be charged the full session fee.

Should you need to isolate due to COVID-related matters (e.g. testing, identified as a close contact, positive rapid antigen test) then your session will be moved to Telehealth (video/phone); unless you are too unwell to have a session. We understand that Telehealth may not be your preferred method of having sessions, however it is expected that with increased case numbers there will need to be variable ways to provide health services. As such, cancellations with less than 48 hours notice due to not wishing to have a Telehealth appointment will also incur a fee.

Please note, you are unable to claim a medicare/private health fund rebate on cancellation/non-attendance fees.
